Dr. Rahmi Oruç Güvenç explored the shamanic healing techniques of the Turkic people in Central Asya. He encountered millennium old traditions of music, dance and movement therapy. The method of Oruç Güvenç combines archetypical movements and Baksi-dance with pentatonic folk songs and improvisations.Lect.: Andrea Azize Güvenç / Yaşar Güvenç

Musical harmony and solid rhythms provided by the ensemble are the fundaments of the dervish dance. This workshop emphasizes on interplay and improvisation of the musicians.

Makam Uşşak: Listening, Feeling and Comprehending Improvisation motives and exercises for advancedThe Makam therapy uses specific sound matterns (makams) for the treatment of different diseases. The special sound experience transmitted by a makam depends on its scale, melodic progression and typical musical motives. The focus of this workshop is on the makam Uşşak. By listening, feeling, analyzing and exercising on the instruments and in the group we can find an approach to this therapy makam.

Makam Uşşak and Ibn Sina Medicine

Traditional diagnosis and therapy: The Turkish makam music therapy has its own traditional diagnosis and therapy system provided by the Ibn Sina Medicine. This system allows the selection of a suitable makam for therapy according to holistic and traditional criterions. In this workshop the diagnostic steps, such as pulse and tongue diagnosis, will be trained. Then we will undertake practical exercises in the therapy setting of Dr. Rahmi Oruç Güvenç.
